Curiously enough, we all know intuitively that everything in our our world is subject to cycles.  For every up cycle their is a down cycle, for every yin their is a yang, for every light cycle their is a cycle of darkness and so on and so forth.  Be aware of your cycles and draw up your plans accordingly.

Smell The Roses

Oftentimes we are in such a rush that we neglect taking time out, to be with our thoughts.  We act as if everything has to be done NOW.  Just for this month lets resolve to live our lives as if we are creating a symphony, like our fellow traveler William Henry Channing, who stated it this way:

“To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich…to study hard, to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common – this is my symphony.”

A Curious Law

The “Law of Association” states that you are the average of the five people you spend most of your time with.  However, have you really considered the fact that YOU are one of those five, and on average you spend more time with your thoughts than you do with the other four people combined.

Psychological studies have confirmed that we speak to ourselves at the rate of nine to eighteen thousand words per hour.  So try this if you want to put the law of association to work for you.

Manage who you associate with on a daily basis and become very aware of the thoughts that are constantly running through your mind.  Because managing your thinking whilst being mindful of who you associate with, will cause the “Law of Association” to work on your behalf and change your life.
